About Danielle
My Journey
Thank you for being here.
I’m Danielle Leigh Lanteri, a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in training with a background in psychology, wellness counseling, and integrative approaches to mental and emotional well-being.
I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and women navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationships, confidence, career and life transitions, and the many questions that come with figuring out who you are and how you want to live.
I know that reaching out for counseling can feel vulnerable. You may not know exactly what you need, or you may have spent a long time trying to figure things out on your own. My goal is to create a space where you can be honest about what you're experiencing, feel genuinely understood, and explore what may be getting in the way of feeling like yourself.
My Background:
My path to counseling began with a strong interest in understanding people. I studied psychology at Stony Brook University and continued my education through Cornell University's Wellness Counseling program and graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
My education and training include:
-
B.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University
-
ITA Energy Medicine Practitioner at the Tier 3 level
-
Ongoing training and study in meditation and integrative approaches to well-being
My graduate clinical training has given me a foundation in clinical mental health counseling and evidence-based therapeutic practices. My additional background in wellness and integrative practices has also shaped my interest in looking at the person as a whole, including the ways our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and sense of self influence one another.
Why I Do this Work:
My interest in this work is also personal.
For much of my own life, I struggled with anxiety, perfectionism, low self-esteem, people-pleasing, and the feeling that I needed to have everything figured out. I know what it is like to look like you are doing fine on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected on the inside.
Those experiences led me to study psychology more deeply and become curious about why we develop certain patterns, how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves, and what helps us create meaningful change.
They also taught me that people don't need someone to tell them who they should be. They need space to understand themselves, feel supported, and make choices that are genuinely their own.
That perspective continues to shape the way I approach this work. I bring curiosity, compassion, and an open mind to each client rather than assuming I already know what their experience means.
A Little More About Me:
When I'm not seeing clients, studying, treatment planning, researching, or writing, you'll probably find me taking a walk by the water, baking an unreasonable amount of banana bread, reading a thick romantasy book, or listening to an unreasonable amount of Taylor Swift.
I believe counseling is serious work, but that doesn't mean we have to take ourselves too seriously. I want my clients to feel that they can bring their whole selves into the room, not just the parts they think they're supposed to bring to counseling.
Let's Connect:
If you're considering counseling, you don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out. You simply need to have a sense that something isn't working the way you'd like it to, or that you're ready to understand yourself a little more deeply.
A free consultation is an opportunity to talk about what you're navigating, ask questions, learn more about my approach, and see whether we feel like a good fit.
I'd be honored to meet you where you are and support you in wherever you want to go next.
With gratitude,
Danielle
